Left to right:  NYX Soft Matte lip cream (in London and Stockholm) and NYX Lip Lingerie Lipstick (09 and 01)

Seeing as NYX has eventually become easy to get your hands in the UK, through bigger Boots Stores, I thought it was only appropriate to pick a few of their lip products to review. Seeing a there is no such thing as having too many lipsticks, or in this case Matt Liquid Lipsticks, I only saw fit to buy four!!
NYX currently have a massive lip product range but there were three main products that seemed to fit into the Matte Liquid Lipstick criteria. The NYX Lip Lingerie Lipstick, the Soft Matte lip cream and the Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick. I personally favoured the colours in the Lip Lingerie Lipstick and the Soft Matte lip cream range, as they have a range of nudes that don’t seem to be common on the market.
I would say both ranges have their advantages and disadvantages depending on your needs. The Soft Matte lip cream have the nicest formula in terms of not making your lips dry but at the same it takes its time to become an matte/suede texture. The longevity is average and the colour range is also average, similar shades you would find with other low-end makeup brands. While the Lip Lingerie Lipstick have a very dry formula and can dry out the lips. When trying to reapply it after its faded it can become crumbly. The positives of it is that usually you won’t have to reapply because it stays on the lips so well!! And the shades it provides if you are a nude lover are perfect, they do grey nudes which are hard to find unless you look at higher end or more make-up artist brands.
Both products are amazing and it’s good to see more Matte Liquid Lipsticks on the low-end makeup market, especially one with such a wide colour range!!

Left to Right: M.A.C Studio Sculpt (NC25), NARS Luminous Weightless (Punjab), M.A.C Studio Fix Fluid (NC25), Make Up For Ever Ultra HD (140) NARS Sheer Glow (Punjab)
I'm have been into testing out new foundations recently, I have always been loyal to my NARS Sheer Glow and I’m not going to lie I still think it is my favourite to this day but during my second year of university I decided to branch out a little and see what else there was on the market. I mainly stock to NARS and M.A.C but am planning to expand my collection to test other brands. The top foundations on my wish list would be the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk, Estee Lauder Double Wear, CHANEL VITALUMIÈRE…. And that’s only getting started!!

As I said I have loyalty to NARS Sheer Glow but that fits best to my skin type. I have a combination skin type with dry forehead and upper cheeks and an oily  nose, which seems to be quite common. This means I need a foundation that can withstand both elements.

Personally the foundation that I had  the most problem with was M.A.C Studio Sculpt. I wouldn’t say my skin was super oily but it seemed that the oil would break through the foundation in a matter of 1-2 hours and the finish on my skin was a bit cakey especially in area’s which where dry. The M.A.C Studio Fix Fluid was slightly better, it wasn’t like a second skin but it did have good coverage, it held up nicely till mid-day when I would have to powder my nose. It was a nice foundation but I could probably find something in Boots or Superdrug to match up to its standards.

I think my joint runners up would have to be both the NARS Luminous Weightless and the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD. I’m in love with the finish of both foundations they literally look like a second skin and are undetectable at a glance, the only thing I could say is their longevity! They seem to stay on the skin well but don’t last as well on oily areas and usually start breaking down, which isn’t much of a problem if you have powder to hand!

Last but certainly not least my beautiful NARS Sheer Glow, it has the second skin appearance of the NARS Luminous Weightless and the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD but seems to hold up during the day much nicer. The oilier areas still don’t always look the best by the end of the day but the foundation still sticks around even in the oily areas and it doesn’t make the area look like a total oil slick which can be the case for quite a few of the other foundations. Overall out of the 5 recent foundations I’ve tested out I would have to say the Sheer Glow prevails over the others and would be my top recommendation at the moment.
